A Suspended Night in Toronto: Canada and Bosnia-Herzegovina Cancel Each Other Out 1-1
Canada wanted a founding night. It received a lesson in World Cup patience against a compact, calm and stubborn Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Toronto treated this match as far more than a group fixture. Red Canadian shirts, blue-and-yellow flags and a light rain gave the stadium a tense, almost cinematic mood. The wind from Lake Ontario complicated long passes and made every cross uncertain.

Canada began with the energy of a host nation trying to impose itself early. The opening goal released the crowd, but Bosnia-Herzegovina never panicked. Patient and disciplined, it equalized before halftime after a second ball from a set piece.

The second half became a battle of nerves. Canada pushed late, but Bosnia slowed the rhythm, protected the centre and accepted the draw with method. The final whistle left a strange feeling: frustration for Canada, satisfaction for Bosnia, and a group still completely alive.

Canada 1, Bosnia-Herzegovina 1.
