Morocco changed the match in 71 seconds
A lightning goal from Ismael Saibari put the Atlas Lions in control and moved them closer to the round of 16.
Morocco needed only 71 seconds to shake Scotland: Brahim Diaz slipped the pass through and Saibari smashed the ball under the bar. Scotland chased the game but never registered a shot on target. El Khannouss missed two big chances and Saibari hit the post, yet Mohamed Ouahbi’s side managed the lead with authority.
Saibari scored the fastest goal of this World Cup and the earliest ever in a 1-0 World Cup win. He also became the first Moroccan to score in consecutive World Cup matches, with Brahim Diaz assisting both Moroccan goals of the tournament so far.
Brazil and Morocco sit on four points. Scotland remain alive with three, but now face Brazil in Miami, while Morocco meet an already eliminated Haiti side.
Efficient, solid and composed, Morocco look like serious contenders. Scotland still have a route through, but they will need to be far braver.
