Canada 6–0 Qatar · Jonathan David hat-trick makes history in Vancouver — World Cup 2026
At BC Place, Canada finally had its World Cup breakthrough: a first ever win, delivered in emphatic fashion.
Cyle Larin opened the scoring, then Jonathan David struck twice before half-time after Al Amin was sent off for Qatar. A second red card, shown to Madibo early in the second half, turned the match into a Canadian wave. Nathan Saliba scored from a free kick, Mohammad Al Mannai put through his own net, and David completed his hat-trick in stoppage time.
David owned the night. A hat-trick in front of the home crowd carried Canada to its first World Cup victory and turned Vancouver into a national football landmark.
Canada leads Group B on four points and a +6 goal difference, ahead of Switzerland before their final-round meeting.
It was a night Canada will not forget, even with Ismaël Koné's serious injury casting a shadow over the celebrations.
